• Why we love it

  Our selection of white bowls with green glazed spots incorporates the traditional Apulian decoration with a stained effect. Each bowl is unique and different because it is made entirely by hand by the artisans of Grottaglie.

• The story behind

  In addition to  simple decoration, the stained effect on ceramics, is a reminder of ancient beliefs and customs that ties us to nature, which is an important element in Apulian life. 

  In fact, the master craftsmen obtains the stained effect (smamriato) by spraying the plates with bunches of twigs from the Mediterranean scrub, dipped in the residual glaze of colors. This has always made every piece unique and special.

  The white and green shade is a popular selection because of the traditional color that is in most Apulian homes.
